Dr. Nilufar Rahman

Dr. Nilufar Rahman brings a unique blend of specialized expertise and deep compassion to Avita Hospital. Born and raised in Assam within a family of tea planters, her medical career began when she joined M.S. Ramaiah Medical College in 1987 on her mother’s insistence. It was here that she gradually discovered her passion for medicine.

After completing her PG in Ophthalmology at JJM Medical College in 1993 and gaining valuable experience at an eye hospital in the city center, Dr. Nilufar’s focus broadened. She developed a strong interest in holistic medicine, believing in the importance of genuinely interacting and listening to the patient—a philosophy that now defines the hospital’s approach.

A Pioneer in Family Health This commitment to community care led her to co-found the Wheeler Poly Clinic in Cook Town in 2001 and, most significantly, the Kothanur Nursing Home in 2006. Together with Dr. Nader, she was instrumental in building the trusted healthcare center that now serves the Kothanur and Byrathi community.

Life Connected to Nature Dr. Nilufar’s personal interests—cycling, planting, and gardening—reflect a lifelong connection to nature, stemming from a childhood spent in the tea gardens. This perspective brings a sense of calm and wholeness to her administrative role and patient care.
